There are a number of companies that organise regular races in and around London so if you fancy taking part in one, the chances are you will be able to get a spot at short notice.
Parkrun
If you have an interest in running and have not heard of Parkrun, which rock have you been living under?
Parkrun is an organised, free, weekly, 5km timed that takes place every Saturday morning at 9am. It’s open to everyone, safe, easy to take part in and take place mostly in parks.
You can just turn up and run without getting a finishing time, or you can sign up, get a barcode and get your finishing time and place email and text to you. It’s really worth experiencing the phenomenon that is Parkrun and the community that it breeds. See the Bushy Park page, for some further information about the home of Parkrun. Just remember – it’s not a race!
